Abstract

This article is a resume of the master's degree dissertation presented in Tarragona (Spain) and it served as requirement for obtaining of master's title in Archeology of the Quaternary and Human Evolution for Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Treat about a theoretical analysis of the mounds (cerritos) appearing in the south of South America, emphasizing a specific area: The Banhado do Colégio. Comparing her with other where they happen sites of same nature, detaching hypotheses worked by the different theoretical currents in what refers to the functionality, monumentality, spaciality and cultural complexity.
