A perturbadora inquietude do ser: a experiência da contingência da filosofia de Hegel

Abstract

The present work is a presentation of the notion of contingency in Hegel with the aim of demonstrating that his philosophical thought represented, within modern philosophy, the best attempt to integrate contingency within a global view of reality. The work we carried out demonstrates how Hegel is able to articulate contingency and necessity in a way that both are not in a position of conflict, but are articulated in a metaphysical framework that respects both moments as constitutive of reality. Hegel demonstrated that both contingency and necessity are intelligible components of the very structure of reality. In this way, the thesis presented the argument that Hegel's philosophy contains answers to philosophical problems that became radicalized from the 19th century onwards, such as the problem of nihilism. Since nihilism operates with the notion of a radical contingency of the universe, our thesis showed that we find in Hegel a vision of contingency that considers this as objective, but which is able to show that the existence of contingency within the universe is not the same that the disappearance of all sense and significance within the cosmos.
