A dinâmica das interações sociais e seus limites : uma análise dos desafios da construção do capital social na praça Dom Antonio Zattera – Pelotas – RS

Abstract

This work has the social interactions and the social capitals at Dom Antonio Zattera Square as the objects. The research field is in the center of Pelotas which is located in the interior of Rio Grande do sul state in Brazil. The dynamics of social interactions was the thematic of the research, from the involvement of the users, locals surroundings and the municipal public power. The problem to be answered in the demonstration of the results was dynamics and which of the social capitals were involved in the surroundings of the square when the users were in the place. For the achievement of the work, the sociology of Erving Goffman (2010) regarding to the social interactions and the concepts of focused interactions, when the individuals are in the place in a cooperative way and unfocused interactions when the individuals are in the place but not in the sense of interacting were used as the theoretical basis. In relation to the social capital, the concepts of Putman (1992, 1996, 2000, 2002) and Coleman (1990) were used as theoretical basis, whose approach concerns cooperation among the users of certain places to obtain education and culture. A qualitative research was used in order to access the information, bringing quantitative data as well, making it possible to demonstrate the results, whose main finding was that the hypotheses were not proved, that Dom Antonio Zattera square would be used by the locals only to consume or as a circulation area from a region to another in the city. In this sense, the research data showed that social interactions take place in the Square, only between groups or individuals who have already visited the place together and, in order for interaction to take place among regulars, it is necessary to have local events, Cultural, political or sporting.
