dc.description.abstract	The dissertation addresses domestic violence against women in the city of Pelotas, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, at the present time. In addition to identifying and analyzing aspects of public policies geared towards coping with gender violence, the study seeks to highlight, from a feminine point of view, the description and interpretation of the behaviors and perceptions of women in domestic violence contexts. Discrimination and inferiority of women have been demonstrated through a historical analysis, noting that gender inequalities are what make women more vulnerable to violence. In the theoretical-methodological contribution, we work mainly with the concepts of violence and gender. We used the methodology of thematic oral history, where the primary sources used were the testimony of women who suffered domestic violence and also with agents of the public power who act in the confrontation of these situations.	pt_BR

dc.description.resumo	A dissertação aborda a violência doméstica contra a mulher na cidade de Pelotas, sul do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, na contemporaneidade. Além de identificar e analisar aspectos das políticas públicas voltadas para o enfrentamento da violência de gênero, o estudo busca, valorizando o ponto de vista feminino, descrever e interpretar comportamentos e percepções de mulheres em contextos de violência doméstica. Demonstrou-se através de uma análise histórica a discriminação e a inferioridade da mulher, lembrando que as desigualdades de gênero é que fazem com que as mulheres fiquem mais vulneráveis à violência. No aporte teórico-metodológico, trabalhamos principalmente com os conceitos de violência e gênero. Empregamos a metodologia da história oral temática, onde foi utilizado como fontes primárias, o depoimento de mulheres que sofreram a violência doméstica e, também, com agentes do poder público que atuam no enfrentamento destas situações.	pt_BR
