As Raízes das Flores: Uma Etnografia Entre Mulheres Ciganas em Pelotas, RS.

Abstract

Considering concepts such as identity, family and framing the female character we can understand the gypsy social context and their cultural treasure through the history of its people and, more specifically, the past, as a group, of the gypsy people we studied in order to conceive the following paper. The gypsy women, in her social and family contexts, shows her group signals. By analyzing the individual itself and its social environment, we study different forms of understand the cultural identity and, after that, preserve the social and individual memory. The identity reflects on their sociability and household according to the voice of each generation women. By exchanging presents and interacting with the group is possible to understand the identity dynamics between the Brazilian researcher and the gypsy women as a commutation of intersubjectivities. Grandmother, mother and daughter allow us, through participant observation, to experience their tradition, especially in the nostalgia of the past traditions, and also of the current manners.
