Abstract

This research runs upon the specificities of architecture and urbanism as to the apprehension of small cities, considering the current moment and possible interventions in these territories. In it, the cities of Arroio do Padre, Morro Redondo and Turuçu were studied based on the approximation between contemporary urbanism theories and philosophy of difference theories, in order to learn from the ways of life and the desires of these cities. From the cartography method, this dissertation courses through theoretical composition, which seeks to reflect on becoming-urban. This notion was built by the concepts of border, between the countryside and the city; "minor literature", experienced in the modes of subjectivation; and desire, which deals with the condition of contemporaneity. Next, this work traverses the pedagogy of travel, which reveals, through fable, a possible way to make the singularities of small towns more perceptible. Finally, it advances towards the composition of cartographic clues about the role of architects and urbanists in relation to questions about plans and projects, contemporary urbanism and urban interventions in these territories of a minor becoming. As results, the concepts of hospitality, subjectivity and "minor education" were operated in the midst of multiple settlements, crossed by the previous compositions and enhanced by interviews with architects and urbanists who worked in small towns of Pelotas microregion, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
