Abstract

The poet Oliveira Silveira was born in August 16, 1941, in the 6th Subdistrict of Rosário do Sul titled Touro-Passo, municipality located on the western border of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Passed away in January 1, 2009, in Porto Alegre. He was a studious of black culture. His acting, in the black moviment, passed over his life, in wich he much lived as registered decisive moments of emancipation of black communities in Rio Grande do Sul. Along his performance, generated an important set of photographs that are an intense collection about black culture and politics. These records justify part of the history of the national black moviment. This research is about that acquis and understands it to be of great public interest by presenting historical value to the memory of the black population. In the study, reflections were developed with regard to the memory of a repressive period, disputes over political space and idealizations which proposed the inclusion of black people in a society that, through a policy of state, acknowledged to be a racist, but declared himself anti-racist. It discusses about the conservation of the photographies and the disclosure of the collection, from workshops on black militancy and anti-racist struggle, therefore conjecturing ways of implementation of the Federal Law 10.639.03, mandating the teaching of African and african-Brazilian in the school curriculum. From this collection, is possible to trace a narrative about the stories of struggles experienced by social groups of which the poet participated during the dictatorship. This way, it is recognized that these images are configured as an important source for ethnic and heritage studies.
