Abstract

The present research aims to evaluate the methodology of realization of SICG/IPHAN inventories in relation to the attribution of values to the properties of cultural interest and to present propositions for an Attribution of Values’ System to the urban architectural patrimony. The study is developed from the analysis of two case studies. It compares the inventories made in the historical centers of the cities of Jaguarão/RS (2009) and São Leopoldo/RS (2016). The methodological basis used at execution of the inventories was the same. The difference lies in the use of the methodology of Cultural Instances/IPHAE in the work made in São Leopoldo. The focus of the present research is the comparison between the way of assigning values – of selection and classification – to the properties of cultural interest, in each one of the executed inventories. Concludes that the methodology used for the elaboration of inventories of the urban architectural patrimony was adequate and effective for the data collection, analysis and registration of the necessary items for reading and understanding historical sites. Concerning the methodology of assigning values, the adoption of the criteria established by the Cultural Instances/IPHAE was effective in the selection stage of the properties of cultural interest. The study of the instruments used seeks to promote the improvement of the criteria of selection and classification of the properties of interest through the assignment and hierarchization of values. Through the attempt to elaborate an Attribution of Values’ System to the architectural patrimony, it aims to help in the construction of criteria for the selection and classification of patrimonial properties in order to identify the relevance of the inventoried property, which criteria based its choice and the guiding actions for future interventions to preserve these properties.
