Cartografia urbana na linha de fronteira : travessias nas cidades-gêmeas Brasil-Uruguay

Abstract

Frontier is not a line, nor is it merely a spatial or temporal demarcation between two points or territories. A frontier place or territory is, par excellence, a territory of becoming. The need to reflect on the concept of International Frontier in the contemporary becomes an emerging one, since the globalizing discourses synthesize the border as a static line with high commercial potential. Thus, the research, based on the approximation between contemporary urbanism and the philosophy of difference, has the general objective of mapping the crossings on the Brazil-Uruguay border line, defined by the twin cities, using sensitive urban cartography as a methodology; with the intention of mapping out these urban phenomena typical of contemporaneity and contributing not to elaborate regulatory urban plans, but rather to change them, to question them, the possibility of creation from the smallest of cities, encompassing heterogeneous readings in an act of creation as revolution. The twin cities have their continuous or discontinuous urban mesh in the border line, presenting morphologies and urban uses that go from great intensities to empty ones. Places of open life and flows. It is questioned: how do the (morphological) structures associated with (hostile) experiences - hostipitaleiras - in the border lines of the twin cities Brazil-Uruguay create possibilities to give new directions to the intersection points, the con tact point of these cities? The proposed method thinks the urban space as a producer of subjectivities always in process, using as procedures the experience of the pedagogy of the trip, analyzes of the urban morphology, the forms of reception and the cartography itself, the overlapping of intensive and extensive plans through collages, in addition to giving voice to the border citizen through interviews. Research contributes to the understanding of events, what exists and what resists on the frontier, but not only in a recognitive function - to know and recognize the world and the things that surround it - but to learn from difference, everything that which escapes the standards set up so far.
