Abstract

The inclusion possibility of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) as a support to the teaching and learning of design process in architecture and design has been explored from different perspectives by the researchers. This study intends to contribute to the registration of new trials that can point conceptions of teaching and learning design process in architecture and design that have the support of ICT based on free software. It is established as specific focus on this research the identification of possibilities of simulation, interaction and collaboration which are provided by free platforms to support the process of the teaching and learning design. It aims to identify the possibilities of simulation, interaction and collaboration that provide ICT to support teaching and learning design process, check the attitude of the students in a situation of working together using ICTs, including, forums, and online virtual world and how the collaboration between them occurs, examine the interaction between teacher and student, in his guidance of the project; also identify where participation by students who observe these guidelines, if they interact and collaborate. These tests were carried out in two different ways PHASE VLE (Virtual Learning Environment - Moodle) and PHASE MV (Virtual World -OpenSim). The analysis results indicate, in the various aspects involved, guidelines to the teaching design, the possibility of interaction, collaboration and experimentation that ICTs, based on free platforms offer, allow them to use as support for the methodology of teaching and learning design process in architecture and design.
