Wayfinding e a experiência do usuário em cidades com campi universitários descentralizados: o caso de Pelotas/RS.

Abstract

The matter about this research consists in the way that the wayfinding projects are being developed in decentralized campus in Brazil , not considering the users expectations and taking into consideration only technical or costs criteria. This way we Have got the following Issue : What are the factors that must be considered in a decentralized campus, regarding wayfinding . This way, the purpose is suggesting a methodology that will help wayfinding projects in these campus, taking into consideration the users expectations. The specific goals are: (i) consider and investigate the students perception regarding to signs of the buildings and the image of the university, (ii) identify which urban elements will be important in the spatial orientation of the students on their Ways to the campus, (iii) identify the differences and similarities between users due to place and gender. This way, due to location and intense growing, the research is using the Universidade Federal de Pelotas as the main studied campus. We are using a methodology that is related to the Environment and Behavior , which evaluates the Environment through the users perception and relates the physical characteristics of the place, spatial configuration, with the attitudes and Behave of the locals. The methodology includes physical aspects, mental maps, interviews, and inquiries. The results of this study show that the deficit in orientational resources for users is related to the lack of planning , costs criteria considered and maintenance problems. Data found also help to developed wayfinding projects in no centralized campi. We hope these results found will stimulate and create interest in developing other studies about this matter!
