Descaracterização no ecletismo da cidade de Pelotas/RS : proposta de método de análise.

Abstract

This dissertation presents a study about the decharacterization of Eclectics buildings inserted in the 1st subdivision of the city of Pelotas — located in the South of Rio Grande do Sul. The economic expansion resulting from the activities of manufacturing of charqui the XIX and XX centuries in Pelotas, collaborated to the appropriation of the urban space and especially provided the development and consolidation of the architectural style Eclectic — in which it is considered one of the most representative of the country. Eclecticism is conceptualized as an artistic and architectural movement, which is based on the use and / or reuse of styles of the past, prioritizing, mainly, the aesthetic sense. However, Pelotas, like most Brazilian cities, have suffered with the decharacterization in their architectural Patrimony. Decharacterization can be defined as a set of interventions that affect the character of a work and which put at risk, in addition to its aesthetics — which includes style and typology, its cultural significance — involving authenticity, integrity, identity, memory and value. Therefore, through a qualitative and quantitative research, the research seeks a theoretical discussion about decharacterization, proposes a method of analysis and, finally, analyzes and evaluates the decharacterization of a sample of real estate of different typologies and fits them into a degree of decharacterization for confirm the efficiency of the proposed method.
