A trajetória da professora Ruth Blank (1925-1982): contribuições para o ensino de arte em Pelotas-RS

Abstract

This Master's dissertation deals with the trajectory of Professor Ruth Elvira Blank, who lived between 1925 and 1982 (time cut), founder of the Municipal School of Art of Pelotas (EMAP). The objective is to investigate the teacher's life trajectory in order to identify the various confluences that contributed to her relevance in the field of History of Education in Art, in the municipality of Pelotas. As a specific objective, we sought to point out aspects of the family environment, their student and teacher training (intellectual) and pedagogical practices, in order to relate to their professional life (how they were constituted). As an indicator, the teaching of art was contextualized at the time she founded EMAP (1963), supported by the ideals of the Movement of Art Schools that took place in Brazil, spread by Augusto Rodrigues. As a method for this study, we carried out a mapping of people (family, friends, students, teachers and colleagues) who were close to Ruth Blank (as she was more recognized) in different spaces and moments of her life and after that, interviews and questionnaire to work with oral sources, from some perspective of Oral History (THOMPSON, 1998 and ALBERTI, 2008). Document Analysis (LUDTKE, 1986; BACELLAR, 2005 and CELLARD, 2008) was carried out from written sources (newspaper clippings, old books, photographs, magazines, certificates, certificates, official documents and manuscripts). To conclude this dissertation, it was considered that the Art teacher Ruth Blank, went beyond the educational standards, for a teacher who lived at that time, in the city of Pelotas, in view of her diverse contributions propagating education through art in the specialized courses that participated and gave, acting in the training of teachers, idealizing a school for teaching art, acting in the area of culture, increasing the integration between education and art in the museum, or preparing a Project for the development of Art in Education (PRODIARTE).
