Filhos (transexuais) não vêm com manual de instruções: uma autoetnografia da maternidade

Abstract

This work produced in the “Insurgent Knowledge and Transgressive Pedagogies”Research Line of the Graduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Pelotas aimed to (1) interrogate a maternal perspective, in order to provoke reflections and insurgent knowledge about its contemporary sociocultural conditions emerging from displacement with the motherhood of transsexual children; (2) problematize autoethnographic experiences about motherhood intersected by processes of transition of a trans child and a mother who needed to reinvent herself in expectations facing gender norm discourses. For the construction of this research, I start from the narratives of my concerns and experiences of motherhood. As a method of developing the work, I seek to weave autoethnographic reflections crossed by the editions of what I am capable of interrogating from the analytical categories “motherhood” and “male transsexuality”. In this logic, autoethnography focuses on the systematic questioning of personal experiences produced in collective interactions in order to understand the cultural experience. The work is guided by the unique experiences of motherhood, which, even though described in the first person, are mediated by collective gender norms that permeate our subjectivities. Unique subjective questions fundamentally reveal the insufficiency of sexual categorization and signal that sex-gendermotherhood classification systems constitute operations of non-exclusion.
