O sentido de lugar em ambiente amazônico: a inter-relação entre comunidade e o patrimônio moderno de Vila Serra do Navio/Amapá

Abstract

Community involvement in the processes of preserving heritage is a premise considered fundamental for a long time and is present in international and national preservation polices and legislation. However, despite being incorporated in most os the speeches, it has not been implemented satisfactorily, which constitutes one of the mentioned gaps in the area. For this reason, we chose to explore the community’s perception of modern heritage in the Amazon environment. Faced with this context marked by the lack of identification and recognition of the community with the modern heritage — a reflection of the difficulty in implementing measures that provide an effective involvement of community and that in fact, absorbed they perspectives in the processes of preservation — it was observed the incipience of mechanisms that consider as attributions of the local community on the modern heritage that are inserted (in the Amazonian environment) and tha guarantee the effective involvement of these individuals from communities in our processes related to their preservation. Therefore, with the aim of privileging the perspective of the community and assuming that, it does not always recognize the values that the modern language, we chose to approach the problem from the area of knowledge of environmental psychology. More precisely, from the understanding of sense of place, which consist of a psychosocial process based on the bonds of individuals and the place where are inserted. Therefore, the present work sought to answer the following research question: from the analysis of the interrelationship between community and modern heritage in the Amazon environment and the identification of the sense of place, how to provide or involve the local community in the actions of preservation? In order to answer this question and achieve the general objective of proposing ways that promote community involvement in the processes of preserving the modern heritage in the Amazon environment, taking into account the identification of they sense of place and interrelationship of the context, it was adopted whether a multi-methodological or triangulation approach, which was based on a case study. Where the field, defined by the peculiarity of its history and deployment environment, materialized by the Conjunto Urnano Vila Serra do Navio/AP is a national modern heritage designed by Oswaldo Bratke and built by the company ICOMI, with the aim of housing employees of a mining company. For data collection was use, bibliographic and documental research, physical survey, observation and semi-structured interviews were used with residents, representatives of the public administration and technical agents. From this study, it was possible to observe the current sense of place of the referred heritage and details that contextualize the perceptions about the environment in which they are insert, allowing, in the end, the indication of paths through proposals based on the research findings.The serch for an understanding of the sense of place proved to be a very promising path, as it goes beyond the identification of demands, since it explains the person-environment relationship.
