Abstract
The degradation of building elements is a natural process, with its speed varying according to environmental conditions, and it can be either active or slow. Humidity plays a crucial role in the emergence of pathological problems in buildings, making the selection of construction materials based on their hygrothermal characteristics vital. Computational simulations enable the prediction of the behavior of these materials under various conditions, emphasizing the importance of hygrothermal properties in
accurate modeling. However, in Brazil, the scarcity of studies on these properties may compromise simulations. This study conducted tests on the hygrothermal properties of ceramic masonry bricks and self-compacting concrete with an Fck of 25 MPa, molded "in loco" at the LAMTAC/NORIE/UFRGS laboratory, aiming to obtain variables for use in computational simulations with the WUFI Pro 6.7 software. The simulations compared the test results with the standard values of the software, evaluating the
impact of these differences on the results. It was noted that for the brick, there was no significant impact on the simulations when using test data compared to the program's standard values, while the concrete showed more expressive differences. For the growth of filamentous fungi, for example, there was a 5% difference in the values for the ceramic brick and about 20% morem in the concrete, considering the test data. These results highlight the importance of a national database of hygrothermal variables, adapted to the characteristics of each Brazilian bioclimatic zone, aiming for more realistic simulations and a better understanding of the impact of humidity and temperature on the durability of construction materials.
