Um olhar sobre variações linguísticas no processo comunicativo entre docentes surdos e docentes ouvintes na Língua Brasileira de Sinais - LIBRAS

Abstract

Linguistic studies in the area of variationist sociolinguistics and deaf culture attribute a great value to investigating questions that provide enrichment and more visibility to the Brazilian Sign Language – Libras. This work analyses the communicative process in Libras among 16 (sixteen) deaf teachers and listener teachers in the cities of Pelotas and Rio Grande / Rio Grande do Sul, aiming at identifying the presence of linguistic variations on the basis of different phonological parameters, considering extralinguistic factors connected to research subjects during 2018. For the construction and interpretation of utterances, the study follows a qualitative -quantitative methodological approach, and it applied research instruments that allow to understand the personal marks, values and beliefs of individuals and quantified results obtained. The instruments were questionnaires and interviews, as well as the register of the linguistic performance of teachers connected to linguistic variables present in interactive actions by means of Libras among the language users. The organization of collected data identified all the variables used in enunciations among the participants of the research. To analyze signs articulated, it used Coelho (2015) and Quadros; Karnopp (2004), and the deaf reseacher opted for the method of direct and practical observation, using cognitive knowledge, visual experiences, and deaf and intuitive experiential knowledge, on the basis of the answers obtained in video recorded questionnaires and interviews. Results demonstrate that Libras such as is spoken in the investigated environment is complex and rich, presenting a great diversity of linguistic variations among deaf teachers and listener teachers of the cities of Pelotas e Rio Grande / Rio Grande do Sul. The enunciations of the subjects showed the influence of several extralinguistic factors, with a higher incidence of the phonological parameter non-manual (physical and facial) expressions.
