Escritas urbanas, corpo e modos de subjetivação: experiência cartográfica pela cidade contemporânea.

Abstract

The research invests in the experience of living the city in the contemporaneity, with the purpose of investigating clues, micro forms of resistance, that allow for escaping from a bodily passiveness instituted by a system which develops cities and societies shaped by reason, where relations of stiffness are developed both in the city and in the individuals, reducing the possibilities of quality of the public spaces and of the urban experience itself. The work addresses the relation between body and city through the intervention of urban writings in the public space. Its general objective is to explore the possibilities of reading the urban space of the city of Pelotas, from the point of view of the urban experience of the body affected by the interference of urban writings, so as to contribute to the development of this debate. To this end, the research casts an investigative look upon the contemporary city, its urban design, its expressed manifestations and the bodily experience performed by the public space, and proposes to connect theories of contemporary Urbanism, of Architecture, of the Arts and of the Philosophies of Difference, so as to allow for potent dialogues and for the investigation of the relations established among the compositional elements of the reality studied. The research is justified by the need of enlarging the forms of studying the contemporary urban space, having the body as guiding principle for reading such scenery, based in its active experience across the city, around the elements and languages that compose it. It commits to the cartographic method, enabling the construction of maps based in the movement of this body that wanders and researches around the city of Pelotas, following the “urban writers” and the processes of change as they take place in the urban landscape and in the bodies that there circulate.
