Fotografia sequencial e fotomontagem: alternativas para o estudo da dinâmica da paisagem urbana.

Abstract

The urban landscape includes spatiotemporal relations and it is characterized by dynamic behavior. However, despite this dynamism, the images usually show a single moment of the city, a tiny fragment of time before numerous states that its image embodies over time. Considering that, this work has as its aim the study of the urban landscape dynamics, from spatiotemporal fragments, captured by time-lapse photography and grouped together by means of photomontage, creating new images. The overall objective here is to show, represent and (re)create the landscape dynamics through photographic images, experimenting and discussing possibilities, seeking to bring closer representation and reality, and then producing new realities and perceptions. This work reinforces the need of expanding forms of representation and (re)creation of the urban landscape, through images featuring temporal photo collages, recognizing and investing in the potential of time-lapse photography integration with photomontage. The theoretical and exploratory studies indicate that images created by combining time-lapse photography and photomontage allow the expansion of the temporal dimension of the photography and they have a more outstanding artistic and creative potential when compared to conventional images. In addition, these images can also be more representative accounting for the possibility of capturing processes and relationships, as well as states and objects, linking the image content with the multiplicity of spatiotemporal fragments from the urban landscape.
