A visão dos discentes sobre a formação à docência em Programas de Pós-Graduação em Odontologia do Brasil

Abstract

The general objective of the study was to analyze the curricular structure of Postgraduate Programs (PPGOs) stricto sensu in Dentistry in Brazil with regard to teacher training and as specific objectives to identify in the curriculum structure of PPGOs the disciplines and / or pedagogical contents in training human resources for teaching, identify how pedagogical practices occur and evaluate, through a questionnaire, the opinion of students about the teacher’s training process. Through the Sucupira Platform, the menus of all subjects of all courses in stricto sensu were evaluated. A self-administered structured questionnaire was developed and subjected to a pilot test with recent graduates from PPG in Dentistry at UFPel. Through a link sent to the coordinators of the PPGOs, the final questionnaire was sent to the students, the population to be studied, of 6,101. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively and quantitative data through descriptive statistical analysis. Among the 101 PPGOs, of the 70 institutions, there are 80 pedagogical subjects offered, among them mandatory and optional. All students were invited to participate, and of these 947 (15.52%) responded to the survey. Of the respondents, 72.2% were women, as well as 73.4% declare themselves white and 65.7%, wish to pursue a university teaching career and 14% teach in courses. The numbers reveal a high percentage of 60%, of students who are not in agreement with the number of classes taught by the master / doctorate, although 41.1% feel prepared for teaching. Regarding the importance of the teaching internship, the data showed that 98.6% of the interviewees considered the teaching internship to be important and highly important during the time of master / doctor training within their program. This work allowed to know the panorama of the formation of human resources in the view of the students of the PPGOs of the country and which the disciplines of the curricular structuring of the Dentistry area of the country contribute to a didactic-pedagogical formation of the future teachers. The results demonstrated the satisfaction of the students regarding the quality of the classes, the high level of knowledge of their teachers and the wide diversity of pedagogical disciplines offered in the PPGOs.
