Abstract

This dissertation focuses on the Visual Arts as promoters of attentive and careful looks towards the environment and, in this sense, investigates the overlap between Visual Arts, memories, experiences and self-training as collaborators in that process. The justification comes from the reflection on the nature deficit characterized as an abyss/distance between the subject and the natural environment, a consequence of the formation of subjectivities amidst the rush of the contemporary capitalist world, disregarding care practices related to the living context. The specific objectives focus on the following points: to discuss contemporary environmental issues from the perspective of Visual Arts; reflect on the actions of the Minijardim extension project; problematize the interrelationships between the Visual Arts, Waldorf Pedagogy and the promotion of autopoiesis; point out actions carried out by artists and activists engaged in environmental issues; problematizing the current situation of Brazil in the context of environmental preservation. The text also addresses the practice of artists focused on caring for the planet, discussing their poetics. During the writing, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are considered, as a background for the research carried out. The practices of the Mini Garden Project are highlighted - linked to the Ceramics disciplines of the Arts Center (UFPel), which involves ceramics, plants and emotional relationships, highlighting workshops that have the bias of caring for life, the environment and the other, activities that structure the researcher's self-training process. In this sense, Waldorf pedagogy is approached in dialogue with the concept of autopoiesis, arguing in favor of education in Visual Arts to achieve the intended goals. o encourage writing, authors such as Richard Louv (2014), Félix Guattari (2011) and Buyng–Chul Han (2016), as well as Humberto Maturana (1997) and MarieChristine Josso (2004), who structure the discussion on the autoformative and autopoietic processes. It also resorts to Hundertwasser approaching the “theory of the five skins” and his environmental theories, and to Gaston Bachelard (1993). The research is qualitative and presents a methodology based on the author's descriptive memorandum and self-training, it has interviews with members of the Minijardim project and the coordinator of the Guayí Mirim Kindergarten in the city of Pelotas, as well as through her artistic practice. seeks to give visibility to issues related to the Environment Education. The results of the developed analyzes indicate that through the Arts, it is possible to problematize urgent themes, such as the survival of lives on the planet, through educational practices.
