A Educação Ambiental no projeto “Adote uma escola” no contexto das escolas municipais do ensino fundamental de Pelotas.

Abstract

Or "Adote uma escola", a municipal project managed by the Pelotas Autonomous Sanitation Service (SANEP), whose objective is to develop ecological awareness in the students of Pelotas/RS, making a collection of recycled waste and Environmental Education activities (EA) in the schools. Due to the longevity, breadth, and relevance of the project, this dissertation wants to understand its application and its articulation with E.A. in municipal elementary schools (EMEFs). Focusing on (i) identifying and selecting the EMEFs schools of “Adote uma escola”, which make up the subjects of the research; (ii) verifying the occurrence of E.A. in the municipal elementary schools, and their association with the project; (iii) characterize the perception of the directors about the functioning of the project “"Adote uma escola",; (iv) provide melodies for E.A. for this. This is a qualitative-qualitative exploratory study, where the collection of dice occurs in the following way: A - documents related to the "Adote uma escola", project were studied, where triage and definition of the schools selected for the research were made; B - contacting EMEFs identified, preferably remotely, due to the COVID-19 pandemic; C - online questionnaire application, on the Google Forms platform, preferably to school principals; D - visits to schools were made, because there was a low rate of return of answers to the online questionnaire. During the visits, photographic and textual records were made in the field diary. The analysis of data occurs through the elaboration of graphs and figures, through Excel® software, and by application of discursive textual analysis. The results obtained from both analyzes are discussed together and suggest that selective collection is the one that has the greatest practical effects on the project. However, despite being the most applied activity, selective collection is suspended in 35% of the schools, and has problems with waste can in 75% of the institutions investigated. E.A. showed a theme very well implemented within the EMEFs, which gives it the importance it deserves. The reports of E.A. activities done show a punctual approach, with an environmentalist inclination. The shares of E.A. promoted by “Adote uma escola”, despite being much appreciated by school principals, present problems of frequency and scope. Being the lack of continuity and the limitation of the project to the walls of the school the weaknesses most cited in the research. To make the application of the project more efficient, it was proposed to create an interactive smartphone application of “Adote uma escola”. Through the functions of the application, it would be possible to carry out more efficient management of the project and the monitoring of its operation. In addition, it is suggested that the application has a specific area for E.A. activities and information. It is believed that the development of this digital tool would help to increase the continuity and coverage of “Adopt a school”. In addition to potentially contributing to the achievement of environmental goals and social integration.
