Imagens embriagadas: a cruzada das crianças - Barbárie e reencantamento do mundo.

Abstract

Through an children’s picture collection collection who passed through the Patronato Agrícola Visconde da Graça (PAVG) – founded in 1923 within a civilizational, moral and positivist project in force in the advent of the Brazilian republic –, the thesis defended here is based on the contributions of Walter Benjamin about the barbarism that goes through history like lightning, and the surrealist movement in its intoxicated ethical, aesthetic, and political criticism toward a (im) possible re-enchantment of the world. From a understanding of the history of images – from Aby Warburg to Georges Didi-Huberman - the children’s picture of the PAVG are presented as part of a Children's Crusade out of time and space and therefore survivor in a time symptomatic, conjugate in the (counter) rhythm of difference and the repetition of a unconscious of history. Through the surrealist montage, this thesis seeks to capture the flashing moments where the images take position and arise in the now of knowability, returning from everything that has been repressed in the history of childhood. Sustaining the thesis that the history’s images through childhood reveal themselves between barbarism and the re-enchantment of the world, the order and time of the history hitherto accepted is fragmented and reassembled in a great refusal of the bourgeois modern civilizational project destined to the poor childhood.
