O legado da Copa do Mundo de 2014 a partir de diferentes olhares: a questão das remoções na cidade de Porto Alegre/RS.

Abstract

The research approaches topics related to the removals of families due to the works designed to the preparation of the host cities in Brazil for the 2014 Fifa World Cup. These removals are featured for the violation of human rights, mainly the right to housing. The research questions are: as human rights of the population affected by the removal caused by urban development have been respected? Are people aware of the positive or negative impact of the World Cup 2014? The general goal is check the impact of sporting megaevents in the quality of urban life through the perception of different user groups as the World Cup 2014. It was had as a study of case the city of Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, once this city, as the other host cities, presented investments to attend the mega event, causing removals. The duplication of Tronco Avenue has been studied, since the works, according to Porto Alegre City Hall, would be highlighted for having a social project. The data collection happened in two moments:(i) File collection and (ii) field collection. The first one gave information about the road project. The second one has been divided in (I) field observations, (ii) demonstration participation and events of the removed communities, (iii) questionnaires, (iv) focal group, (v) interviews and (vi) report and images broadcast by media, Fifa and Government's analysis. It's important to emphasize that the methods that were applied in different groups of users: (I) people who went through the removal process on Tronco Avenue, in Porto Alegre city, (ii) people who didn't go through the removal process, although they live in the city and (iii) employees who work for the Porto Alegre City Housing Department. The results found show that the population that wasn't removed received well the mega event. However, most of them don't know about the problems related to the removals. These removals are reported by the Porto Alegre City Hall as soled, although the population who had the problem suffer with the lack of respect and dialogue. It's expected that the results of this research help as theoretical subsidy for the next mega events, so that there is more attention to the removals, once these must be carried out without the violation of the human rights.
